Na starem računalniku sem namreč našla moj starejši zapis v angleščini, ki ga je navdihnil eden izmed mojih ljubših “prizorov” iz knjig in sicer iz knjige If you could only see me now Dublinčanke Cecelie Ahern (trenutno si lahko v kinematografih ogledate film posnet po njeni prvi uspešnici P.S.: I love you). Here it goes:
There is a reason I am an optimist: I am young
A dandelion seed is swaying softly in the air to the sound of the light breeze, to the sound of tender movements of trees’ crowns, to the sound of playful yet timid birds… It’s swaying to the music of life.
I cannot help but wonder whether we could all be compared with the dancing seed. It seems highly unlikely, due to the majority of us which has forgotten to look on the bright side of life and has yet to acknowledge that every cloud has a silver lining. What has got into modern society to become so exquisitely pessimistic? Is it the fast-moving world, where everyone threads the day when they will fail or is it just us, being so damn ignorant thinking only of ourselves? What if once for a change we let go of our fears and lived for the moment, went with the flow, instead of having negative thoughts and visions of the future!
It is true that older people who have experienced almost everything there is to experience in this world are most likely to think pessimistic, but we, restless juvenile children of the new era, should aspire to greater heights. We should fly at least a feet above the ground and leave the decision on where we will wind up to the wind that carries us along. No black thoughts, no frustrations. The sky is the limit and if we fall down on earth we will get ourselves up again so there is no need to worry about the harsh landings on our way.
In the end, we are young, we have our whole lives ahead of us and what could be more tempting than being an optimist, than being a dandelion seed swaying to the music of life!
